XMI- MIDI File

What is? XMI File Format and How to Open it?

An XMI file, or XML Metadata Interchange, is an XML document containing metadata for several distinct uses. Usually kept in this format, knowledge about the structure and content of computer programs is retained and finds maximum use in the software development industry. X MI files are built upon the Unified Modeling Language (UML). Graphical depictions of software programs are created using UML, a language designed for this use.

Text-based XMI files are text-based hence they may be opened and changed using any text editor available. Often developed with their help are diagrams and other forms of graphics that could be used to depict software programs. XMI files can also have information on databases, documents, and other kinds of data as well as on their structures. XMI files have still another capacity.

XMI files are often used here when data has to be moved across several apps. An XMI file created by a software engineer might, for example, show program structure. After that, this file can be imported into another application meant for more development. XMI files also serve to retain data about system architecture, including component details and linkages among them. XMI files allow one to save this material.

Furthermore regularly used X MI files are those containing metadata meant for program maintenance. Both recording changes made to software programs and documenting the framework of a system can be accomplished using this class of data.
