What is? MIF File Format and How to Open it?
Designed by Adobe Systems, MIF (Maker Interchange Format) is a document format used for text, image, and graphic transmission amongst multiple products. From a desktop publishing tool to a word processor, it provides a compromise for data movement across programs. MIF files, like HTML, are readable plain text files accessible in any text editor.
MIF files have the page size, margins, fonts, paragraph styles, and other formatting devices of a document—that is, their structural and formatting elements. Moreover kept in the MIF file are the contents of the document—text, images, and graphics. Variables present in MIF files can also be used to hold data fit for many publications.
Any text editor will open MIF files: TextEdit on Mac OS X, Atom on Linux, notepad on Windows, and Adobe FrameMaker, the tool used in which MIF files were produced, allows MIF files to be read and viewed. MIF files are also supported by many additional applications like Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Microsoft Word.
