What is? GPKG File Format and How to Open it?
The GPKG (GeoPackage) style is a generally acknowledged, standards-based, platform-independent, portable, self-describing, small-sized format used for the transmission of geospatial data. This capacity allows many apps and companies to exchange geographic data with one another.
GPKG files are produced using an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) created GeoPackage Encoding Standard. Among the kinds of geographical data these systems may store, exchange, and distribute are satellite images, digital elevation models, and vector data. Applications connected to geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing often make use of GPKG files.
OpenGIS GeoPackage Encoding Standard is used in SQLite databases to save spatial data. We call these databases GPKG files. Along with information tables, they comprise binary data including digital elevation models, raster images, and vector data. GPKG files of several kinds can be read by several different software tools, including Global Mapper, ArcGIS Pro, and QGIS.
Opening a GPKG file will first need you to install an application capable of reading the file. Launch the software once it has been set up; next, select the GPKG file you wish to access.
