KML- Keyhole Markup Language

What is? KML File Format and How to Open it?

Based on XML, keyhole mark-up language, or KML, is a file format used for storing geographic data and showing it in several applications including Google Earth and Google Maps. Included in it are placemarks—points, lines, and polygons denoting the limits of a geographic area. Among the several kinds of data, it might include text, images, and 3D models.
Most times, KML files are opened using Google Earth, a free downloadable program from Google. Once the KML file has been loaded into Google Earth, users may explore the geographic data, zoom in and out, and flip on and off layers.

Opening a KML file in Google Earth starts with navigating the main menu under “File” > “Open.” You could then pick the KML file you wish to open. Another choice is for users to drag and drop the KML file straight into Google Earth’s main window. Once the KML file has been imported, users can begin looking over the geographic data included within it.
